On this date in 1945, Auschwitz (the largest Nazi Death Camp) was liberated by the Red Army. In 2005, the United Nations designated January 27 as an International day to commemorate victims of this tragedy.

Today, Holocaust survivors, the mayor of Haifa, Knesset members, ambassadors, staff, and family members gather at the ICEJ Haifa Home for Holocaust Survivors to honour the memory of family and friends… lives lost to the horrors of genocide. Israeli soldiers and school children will attend the event to meet some of the Holocaust Survivors.

In honour of this day, three of the holocaust survivors that live at the ICEJ Haifa Home for Holocaust Survivors were able open an Israeli basketball game in Romema Station by handing over the ball to the judge. Many of the residents feel wanted and appreciated, which gives them more motivation and purpose to keep living.

Watch this video and join us in remembering those who lost their lives in the Holocaust, as well as survivors who still live with these horrific memories today.

Be part of healing the past, by supporting the ICEJ Home for Holocaust Survivors today!
