Iran Seizes Another Oil Tanker
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif defended the seizure of an Iraqi-flagged oil tanker in the Persian Gulf by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps on Sunday, telling reporters Monday morning that Iran’s patience with the “maritime offenses” of its enemies had run out. He also blamed the US and UK for the current crisis in the Gulf and encouraged world governments to focus their attention on punishing Washington and London for their “economic terrorism” against Iran.

In related news, Saeed Malekpour, an Iranian-born Canadian resident, reportedly arrived in Canada over the weekend after spending 11 years in prison for creating a program that allows users to upload photos to the internet. A court in Teheran found him guilty of enabling Persian-language pornographic websites to operate and he was arrested while visiting his sick father in October of 2008. During a recent furlough from Teheran’s Evin prison, he managed to leave Iran for an unnamed third country before making his way back to Canada.
