ICEJ: Isaiah 62 Prayer

Isaiah 62 Prayer Letter - February 2020

Dear prayer partners,

We are now one month into the new year of 2020, and I have reflected on the fact that 20/20 is what eye doctors define as excellent vision. Therefore, this year I feel the Lord asking us, “Do you see what I want you to see?” “Do you see with My vision for 2020?”

In Acts 2:11-18, we read about the beginning of the Church, during Shavuot or Pentecost, with the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Verse 17 says, “and it shall come to pass in the last days,” says God, “that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.”

In Genesis 15:1-6, we read about God revealing His promise to Abraham about having descendants as numerous as the stars in heaven. However, I want us to focus on verse 1, which highlights several principles as we seek the Lord for His vision and His dream. “After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.’” (Genesis 15:1)

“Do not be afraid” – God’s vision may be so unbelievable that it provokes fear, therefore He encourages us to not be afraid. We should not fear when God gives us a vision, but we should move forward in faith, power, love and a sound mind, knowing that the vision can only come to pass with God’s grace and provision. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

“I am your shield” – God declares that He is our protection. We will not have to defend His vision, because God Himself will defend us as we believe Him for His vision.

I am “your exceedingly great reward”– God Himself is our reward. We need to remember the vision God gives us is not the reward, it is only our assignment from Him. God alone will always remain our greatest reward.

Hebrews chapter 11 is full of verses about faith, and yet even God says that many of the heroes of the faith died without seeing the fulfillment of their faith. Hebrews 11:6 explains, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”

Therefore, let us ask ourselves: “Do I believe with a faith fully expecting God to reward me as I diligently seek Him? And am I diligently seeking the Lord?”
As I am praying for God’s dream and vision for this year for my life and in the ministry of the ICEJ, I have been confronted by Romans 14:23 which states, “But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because he does not eat from faith; for whatever is not from faith is sin.”

How often do we make decisions and plans without faith? Revelations 12:11 explains, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” This verse leads me to pray that the words of my mouth be acceptable to God and to always give Glory to the Lamb, by whose blood we are redeemed. May we always choose to follow Him no matter the cost and remember that God’s presence is our greatest reward.

Let’s close by looking at the words of King David quoted in Acts 2:25-28: “I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken. Therefore, my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover, my flesh also will rest in hope. For You will not leave my soul in Hades, nor will You allow your Holy One to see corruption. You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.”

Have you received a dream, vision, goal or purpose for this year 2020? If not, I want to encourage you to spend time in prayer, reading scripture and asking God how to apply His word to your life. I personally find that in this quiet time of prayer and reading God’s word, I can better hear God’s voice leading me and the ministry of the ICEJ into the future He has planned.

In this new year, make it a habit to read the Bible every day, and if this is already a habit, then strengthen your resolve. It is spiritual food that nurtures our souls. As we move further into this new year, let us ask the Lord to grant us repentance and may we listen to the Holy Spirit as He tells us what we must repent of, so that we may move forward in faith toward His dreams and visions for 2020.

Shalom from Jerusalem,
