Batya lives in a small room in the house of her son, daughter-in-law, two grandchildren and a fiercely barking dog. They all made aliyah from Russia. Life in Israel is not easy for them. Sometimes there is no work, or work below par, and therefore often a lack of money. Homecare’s visits every week, is something that brings bedbound Batya great happiness. A shower, and clean clothes, a hug and shared tears and smiles. And before the visit is over, Corrie picks up Batya’s book of Psalms and sits on the edge of the bed. And in this small room, where Batya spends her days in loneliness, Batya holds Corrie with both her hands while she listens to the comforting words.
